Our Convocation!

Yeah! Finally graduated officially after 4 gruesome years of university studies and 18 years stucked in the Sg mainstream education. The convocation ceremony was very chaotic, with many parents and their kids (us) wondering where's the queue and what to do. Think the instruction and direction have not being very clear. After that 10 secs up on stage to get the empty degree file (ours not scroll) and shaking the hand of one of the richest man in Sg, the rest of the ceremony is history. Leslie Loo's boo boo, Mary Chan's unglam wideopen view of her "bottom" and our dean sitting like he just ordered beer at kopitiam were classic moments indeed. Some of them were either out at the foyer taking pictures, queuing up at the toilet or even dozing off at their seats, with the graduation teddy bears in their embrace. So, there's a purpose to the graduation bear k? :)

We have come so far these 4 years. During our first year, being the guinea piggies cohort, I still remembered how often we have to shuttle between North Spine and South Spine for lesson b'cos we did not have our own school building and it was still an empty construction site. The office was located at the far end of South Spine at the eerie-looking Innovation Centre, which dont look very innovative in the 1st place.

NTU wasnt my first choice and I didnt expect myself to end up there. But all these doesnt matter to me anymore bcos I eventually knew that it doesnt matter where I go, it's the friends that I made that makes a whole lot of differences. A27 was the starting point where we knew each other.

Addicted!

I'm addicted... to Perfect Cut, the 10pm show on Channel U!

It's so far one of the best local dramas for now, millions time better than the Channel 8's Beach.Ball.Babes (They should change the title to Beach.Ball.Bitches. Lol). It was an eyesore looking at Christopher Lee acting as an old buaya flirting with those young princesses and seeing the princesses bitching over him and uh.. volleyballs.

Alrite, back to Perfect Cut. A good show that comes with an excellent theme song! Every episode comes with a different storyline, end off with a meaningful message. And the actings by the actors/actresses are *2 thumbs up*.

I love.. my good old Thomas Ong! Wonder what he does to maintain his looks (elixir?). He still looked the same after all these years.. imagine "Zai Jian Ying Guang Lan" was a drama shown 10 years ago and everyone was crazy about that show, him and the song (I was so crazy that I could write down the song lyrics in my chinese textbook).

But sadly, it will end its run next Friday and also, it means that i probably have to miss the last episode. I will be feasting at The Line after the convocation ceremony.

So people, catch the show when you are free or watch it on tudou for those have not seen it. Good stuff!

Amused

I am feeling rather amused. cos Mediacorp called me up for interview. A job which i just try my luck. Lol. My mum cant stop laughing at me and tell my sister that I am going to be a director. If I am, i make sure my mum become my scriptwriter since she always predicts the storyline before it was shown. -_-!

So What About The New Downtown Line?

Finally! There's gonna be MRT stations at Bukit Panjang. LTA has just unveiled its plan for the new Downtown Line 2 which will link Bukit Panjang and Bukit Timah to the Downtown. The MRT route will ply along the whole stretch along Bukit Timah Road (duh). It claims to reduce the time taken to travel from Bukit Panjang to Downtown area from 1 hr to 40 minutes.

Of cos. It's something to applaud about. I have lived in Bukit Panjang for a good 20 years and see for myself how the town has evolved. Sad to say, nothing has changed much with the exception of more flats sprawling in the neighbourhood, a shopping mall, more schools around and my primary school underwent a major upgrading, a pathetic-looking bus interchange and the LRT which I have not taken a ride on for 4 years. Given that it's not a super new estate and yet lacking facilities, and for this, I am so not impressed with our MP who does nothing but smile all days at the aunties and attending events. Where's my swimming pool and sport complex (which was shelved off several time)? Opps, sorry, I digress.

Bukit Panjang is still a very much "Bird-dont-lay-eggs" (niao bu sheng dan) place, mainly due to the fact that we cant be spotted anywhere on the MRT map. Sometime when people (referring to those with lousy geographical sense)ask me where I live, I have to tell people I stay near Chua Chu Kang.

Despite all these, I still love Bukit Panjang very much. I learn to appreciate its good as I grow up with Bukit Panjang. In a way, it is a "prime" location. Situated right next to BKE, we are only 30 minutes from Orchard, given smooth traffic condition. It's so convenient with 2 direct buses, 190 and 700 that can send me home, without having to squeeze into the extremely packed train. At least, the chance of me getting a seat on the bus is higher than getting a seat on the train. Plus, the buses come at higher frequencies compared to other buses. When I need to go to the east, I can simply take bus 960 to Bugis which take me 40 minutes, hop onto the east-bound train or bus 187 to Woodlands in 15 minutes, transfer to bus 168 to Tampines, all in an hour time. There may not a lot of buses that pass by Bukit Panjang, but its good enough for me to reach out to most places in Singapore. Also, because of the fact that I have no train to take from my place and I am forced to take buses most of the time, it made me very road-savvy as well. Too bad, I dont drive.

I hope with the new MRT line, they will still keep all the bus services, though thats highly unlikely to be so. It may give me an alternative mode of public transport, but i dont see it as necessary as with the current buses, I am already enjoying great conveniences. If they are going to remove most of those buses that ply along Bukit Timah and to town, I will be damn sad. Plus, I will have to walk quite a distance to the MRT station (Petir Road Station, linked up to Bt Panjang LRT station), compared to a 5 minutes walk to the nearest bus stop. It will only be beneficial to those who stayed near an LRT station and travel on LRT frequently. How about residents, like me, who stay near the main road and no nearby LRT station (nearest for me is 15 minutes away)? Buses, still remain the best mode of transport for me.

Hmm... with the Downtown line in place, the gahmen will have enough excuses to built more ERP (Every-Road-Pay) gantries along Bukit Timah Road. Ha! To force the rich residents of Bukit Timah to take public transport.

I may not be staying in Bukit Panjang by then they complete the building of the line in 2020 (estimated). Darn... I will be in my 30s already.

Woes and More Woes

I have been suffering from insomnia ever since the day I came back from my holidays. I have been thinking way too much and too much things have been bothering me. When i couldnt get to sleep at night, i end up feeling all lethargic and weary in the daytime. It's so terrible. I am becoming a batwoman, catwoman or something.

I am getting weary with all the job search. Very tired but I know i must hang on. Wonder how can my uncle tahan unemployment for so long (not actively looking for jobs either) and stay home look after his precious son? I have never ever feel so agonized before.

I was thinking about the decision I made last friday.. whether it was a sensible decision to make. By right, I shouldnt feel any regret or whatsoever. Yeah. I will still wait. Am I too fussy or I simply do not know what I really want? Why is it so difficult to find something I like?

Someone Tell Me How?

Someone tell me how. I finally received a job offer. As a sales engineer in this small local company. Given the fact that it's a small company, the salary package is really good. You are not sheltered, so you are forced to learn. But your career opportunities are limited, in a sense that you are stuck to be sales engineer still.. in the future, of cos with greater responsibility and sales territory.

Now, they want me to make a decision whether to accept it or not. By Fri morning. They are really hurried to hire. But I was not ready to accept it. So it's real annoying for them to hurry me making such an important decision. I really do want to think it through properly. Afterall, I am gonna work for the next 40 years of my life!

I know i shouldnt jump at the 1st offer i received. Should I wait or not? I just receive calls from 2 other companies, PSA and JnJ for assessment and interview. Presented to me were such good opportunities. But on the other hand, I am really worried that in the end, i lose everything. It's a risk, a gamble I have to take. Oh god, i really hope and pray very hard... I need to ace something I like................:(

I thank my uni buddies for their advice. If i am really keen on the job, I shouldnt be so hesitant. So their advice was to reject it. Of cos, it came to my mind to resort to "unethical" means. Accepting it (w/o signing employment letter) and still go for my interviews, then reject them once I got what i desire.V wicked right? I dont think the company will allow me to start work nxt month or what. When i told them about starting work next month, it seems that they are not v happy. Oh well... Should I wait for more opportunities or should I not wait anymore? Quick! I need advice!
